Mow height and blade sharpness
We keep cool-season turf between three and three and a half inches through the Erie summer. Taller grass shades the crown, holds moisture and crowds out crabgrass.
Blades get sharpened on a schedule. A dull blade tears the leaf tip, which browns out and invites disease — it looks like drought stress but it is a maintenance problem.
Alternating stripe direction
Mowing the same direction every week compacts wheel lines and trains the grass to lean. We rotate patterns so the lawn stands upright and the stripes stay crisp.
Wet ground and heavy equipment
After a heavy Erie rain, skid steers and loaded trucks stay off turf. We plate, mat or reschedule rather than leave ruts that need repair in the fall.
Daily maintenance and cleanup
Fluids and tire pressure get checked before the trailer leaves the yard, and every job ends with a blow-down of walks, drives and curb lines. A clean finish is part of the work, not an extra.
